Victoria and PJ’s Ultimate Frisbee, Friend-Centric Camp Wedding at Ohana Family Camp in Post Mills, Vermont

A big thanks to my friend and incredibly talented photographer Chris, of Silk City Photo, who spent Saturday helping to capture Victoria and PJ’s wedding with his unique eye- many of these photos are his!

When I arrived on Friday afternoon to photograph camp festivities the day before Victoria and PJ’s wedding, I was immediately welcomed into their vibrant, funny circle of friends, who had made themselves quickly at home into the camp world of Ohana. As I photographed the highlight of the afternoon, an ultimate frisbee game (Victoria and PJ met while playing Ultimate, and they continue to be regular players, as do many of their friends), I watched how every player encouraged old friends and new acquaintances alike.

The biggest detail Victoria and PJ focused on during their wedding weekend was the element of fun. Their meaningful ceremony was punctuated by a ceremonial eating of a sugar cookie, for instance. When I told them to run around in the sunshine, they ran faster and smiled bigger than any couple who I had asked the same. Everyone present at their wedding was in on the fun too, tearing it up on the dance floor the entire evening as soon as the playlist kicked off.

As regular readers know, Ohana is one of my all-time favorite places to photograph, as it allows each guest to be a kid for the weekend. Victoria and PJ and all their guests filled their three days at camp with the best kind of childlike energy, and it was a treat to photograph!
